On February 14, 1946, ENIAC — 30 tons of vacuum tubes, the first general-purpose fully electronic digital computer — was unveiled to the public at the University of Pennsylvania, performing thousands of calculations per second and proving that programmable electronic computing was real.

May 7, 1946 — Sony Was Founded

On May 7, 1946, a small company called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo appeared in war-damaged Tokyo with twenty employees and $2,000 in capital. The world would later know it by a different name — Sony.
